About
Our Namesake
Our Council (#1611) is named for Fr. Daniel J. Kennedy, a young and dynamic priest from St. Joseph's parish who died suddenly just 247 days after his ordination. His can-do spirit and joyful enthusiasm inspired our council during his short priesthood. Learn Fr. Dan's story by clicking below. BTW, that's Fr. Dan's father, Dan Sr. He was a Knight too!
Our Council
Our council was founded in 1912, the same year as our local Glover Hospital seen at the left. On the same day as the sinking of the Titanic, the Needham Chronicle, under the Needham Notes section, published this two sentence entry: ”Needham Council Knights of Columbus met last night in G.A.R. Hall. Much interest is being shown in this latest of Needham societies.” Click below to learn our full history.

Local councils consist of men who seek to put our faith into action by helping those in need in our community and our world, in ways both large and small.
This is a group of guys who really care. Everyone brings something to the table, and together we change the world for people. I'm so proud to be a part of this.

It's amazing each year when we look back at all that has been done, and all those we've helped, even in a small way. Then you realize, this is what we are called to do

I'm so inspired by the people of Needham. Every time we adopt a cause and hold an event to raise money to support it, they come through with almost boundless generosity.
