2019 College Scholarship Program
Rules and Eligibility
The Needham Knights of Columbus Fr. Daniel J. Kennedy Council #1611 announces it will be accepting new applications for our 2020 College Scholarship starting Spring, 2020. Two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to students true to the founding principles of the Knights of Columbus: Charity, Unity and Fraternity.
To be eligible, an applicant must be a graduating high school senior, be planning to enroll as a freshman in college in 2020, and also be one of the following:
A parishioner of St. Joseph or St. Bartholomew parishes,
A Needham resident who is a parishioner of another Catholic parish of registration, or
A parishioner of another Catholic parish of registration who is a descendant of a current member of the Needham Council of the Knights of Columbus.
Scholarship applications will be available through the parish offices and online by clicking the application link below. Applications must be submitted in hard copy to The Fr. Daniel J. Kennedy Council #1611, 1211 Highland Ave, Needham, MA 02492 no later than May 4, 2020. The recipients will be decided upon in May and acknowledged at the Knights of Columbus meeting on June 5.
The Knights of Columbus Scholarship Committee will select the scholarship recipient. Decisions will be made based on a combination of the student’s accomplishments, essay, letter of recommendation, and application’s completeness. Financial need is not a consideration, but the student is required to be enrolling in college.
The 2020 Scholarship Applications will be made available in this space in the March/April time frame.
